the photographers: part 1

1+1=1 is the name of anya schiller's photo stream on flickr! she is truly a very talented photographer and she has a very nice blog
Photography is one of those things that people think will come easily, and will make a succesful careeer. But actually, photography is not just about taking pictures of pretty girls or sunsets, it's about conveying emotion, whether it's yours or the subject matter's feelings, and i think you have to be a very talented photographer to be able to put across how you are feeling as well as making the image look beautiful,

the youth #2

lately all my thoughts of youth have been inspired by Kurt Cobain. Mr. Cobain has never really meant that much to me, whilst i like some music by nirvana i thought that most of it was hyped up by his early death, and i wasn't around at the time it came out as i was born the same year that he died. But lately there's something about my weekends spent out of the house, in cold parks or my friends kitchens, that makes me see this guys face right before i fall to sleep. Strange, i know,

University?

I was thinking the other day how some people build university up to be this amazing thing. Yeh, im sure its great, but its probably really hard as well. And you know its not the only option, not everyone can go.I mean its not like your not going to have the same problems there as you do now. There will still be some people who act the same, girls, boys, same teachers, same arguments, same Monday mornings. But I'm pretty sure these may be even worse when your 18.
But building it up ,Maybe it just helps people to think about what is at the other end, makes them cope with where they are now and see the future.

youth..

hope everyone felt the benefits of may day! three day weekends are especially good for us teens, leaving an extra night to party and rush homework. i spent this weekend with every friend who was available + sat up flicking through music channels untill something good to dance to came on + hiding empty bottles of becks + i even managed to watch indie flick Away We Go at half 1 in the morning,

also have you heard of a good little indie band called the pains of being pure at heart ? if you have, i'm just slow at discovering beautiful things...this three day weekend has made me think about the benefits of youth a lot,

spring is here...!

you know spring has arrived when there are those odd days in the week when the sun i shinning, the sky is blue and there's a fresh breeze. So, walking home today, i decided it was time to make a spring playlist! Spring is one of those odd seasons, it's either rainny weather or perfect, sunny skys. The kind of season you spend planning, or in our case dreaming, what you are going to do for summer. One of our 'plans' involved Leeds festival, though i doubt that will happen. Any way here it is:

Someone's Missing/ MGMT
Snow Days/ Real Estate
Judy and the Dream of Horses/ Belle & Sebastian
I Felt Stupid/ The Drums
Through the Backyards/ Au Revoir Simone
Cheerleader/ Grizzly Bear
Les Deux Pianos/ Yann Tiersen
The Dog Days Are Over/ Florence and the Machine
Oh my/ Nirvana
Mirror Kissers/ The Cribs
Mexico/ The Soft Pack

i know it's rude but i had to get that picture of the bum in there! Enjoy! ;)

....Happy go lucky

I watched this film the other day, partly made by film 4 and thought it was really different. It didnt have much of a story line but was about a "happy go lucky" primary school teacher living in camden, who refuses to let life gt her down. Pollys attitude gets her into quite allot of trouble with peoples emotions. The question it made me ask was.... can you be too nice?

H

au revoir simone...

the latest new obsession for me is the brooklyn synth band 'au revoir simone' being in band never looked easier, all i need to find is two other girls, three keyboards and raid the Lisbon girls' wardrobes,

F

.....a passionate woman

I watched this two part drama on bbc 1 and found it enlightening.when asked "why did you marry him?" about her loveless husband, she simply replied "because he asked me" this made me think about how people rush into marriage and exist in passionless relationships. Despite this, the ending made you realise that passion is not the same thing as love.

Monday

it will be mine...

i look those messy, white walled, bare floored, cheaply furnished places,

the drums

i'm obsessed with indie band 'the drums', they're like a cross between the smiths and vampire weekend with 80's synth and whistles,
